What is IMEI?
An IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identifier) is a 15-digit number associated with a mobile device. Every individual device has a unique IMEI. The IMEI is a little like an electronic serial number that uniquely identifies an individual device to the network. This number is an identity certificate for your phone and cannot be changed. Whenever you buy a new phone, you can check the IMEI on the box or inside the Settings functionality or you can dial *#06# on your phone dialing pad. It is very important and useful to note down and keep this number safe as it could be used in the future if your phone ever gets lost or misplaced.
How do I find my device IMEI Number?
IMEI is written on the mobile packaging box. It could be found on the mobile bill/invoice. From your mobile you can check the IMEI number by dialling *#06#, IMEI number will be shown on mobile screen.

Can IMEI numbers be changed?
Yes, thieves can change the IMEI number of the stolen mobiles using a device known as a ‘flasher’. It is a small technologically advanced device that helps connect the handset to a computer and allows the user to modify the IMEI number. Once the IMEI number is modified, it is pretty much impossible to locate the lost cell phone.
How can I guarantee my cellphone device’s safety in terms of theft or loss?
